In Your Ears: Paolo Nutini Caustic Love

For the first installment of In Your Ears on Z105, i want to tell you about a 32 year old Scottish artist named Paolo Nutini.  He's been a chart topper in the UK, but hasn't quite made the same splash here in the US.  His 2014 album Caustic Love is incredible.  Upon your first listen, you'd think he's a wise old soul singer from Detroit.  I discovered it a couple years ago, and it's truly one of these albums you can strip apart song by song, beginning to end.  There isn't a bad track here.  The album features many layers of styles woven together, which lay effortlessly behind Nutini's richly authentic vocals.  The highlight of the album for me is 'Better Man', but I also hit repeat on 'Numpty' and 'Iron Sky'.  I love this album so much I purchased it on vinyl, which adds a lot more depth to the awesome arrangements on the album.  This is one of those albums you hope your grand-kids find in your music collection decades from now, and think "damn grandpa's music was awesome back in the day".

Take a pause before watching Iron Sky.  This song is deep.  So deep, they made a European short film to it.  It's high art surly, but the song stands apart.
