Cape Coral, FL - A Florida police officer completed a customer’s DoorDash delivery after the assigned driver was arrested for allegedly being found unconscious behind the wheel at a Cape Coral intersection, according to police reports.

Cape Coral officers responded on November 20th to Skyline Boulevard and Cape Coral Parkway after receiving reports that a vehicle was stopped through multiple light cycles and the driver appeared unresponsive.

When officers arrived, they identified the driver as Luis Angel Alania Estrella, who was allegedly asleep in the driver’s seat and initially unresponsive to commands.

According to the arrest report, officers eventually awakened Estrella, who showed signs consistent with impairment, including slurred speech and delayed reactions.

Police began a DUI investigation on scene, during which Estrella allegedly performed poorly on field sobriety exercises.

While speaking with officers, Estrella informed them that he was working as a DoorDash driver at the time of the incident and expressed concern about the food order still inside his vehicle.

Police stated that one officer collected the order and delivered it to the listed address to ensure the customer received it without further delay.

A records check showed that Estrella’s driver’s license was suspended, leading to an additional charge of driving with a suspended license.

Estrella was taken into custody and transported to the Lee County Jail.

Cape Coral Police have not released further details regarding the ongoing investigation or whether additional charges may be filed.
