Margate, FL - A Margate man was arrested on a hate crime charge after allegedly threatening a man with a gun and using a racial slur.
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. Wednesday outside the home of the suspect, identified as 62-year-old Brian Francis Xavier Nobert, on the 800 block of Southwest 54th Avenue in Margate.
According to the arrest warrant, Nobert exited his home naked and brandished a gun, yelling racial slurs at the victim.
The victim reported hearing a “click clack” noise, believed to be Nobert racking the gun, and fled to a nearby residence to call the police.
Authorities determined that the victim was not on Nobert’s property but in the roadway.
When apprehended, Nobert expressed suicidal thoughts and mentioned the possibility of a gun battle with police.
Nobert is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and committing a third-degree felony with evidence of prejudice.
He is being held at the Broward Main Jail on a $10,000 bond.
