Mackenzie Scott, Jeff Bezo's ex wife, announced she's donated more than $30 million dollars to charities on the Suncoast. United Way Suncoast, which serves 5 counties that includes Sarasota and Manatee, is receiving $20 million, and Goodwill Manasota is receiving $10 million. Other area recipients of Scott's donations include Easterseals Southwest Florida, and Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee.
These donations represent a small portion of a nearly $4.2 billion philanthropic trove given to 384 organizations in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C., in the last four months. This year, she has donated $6 billion to different nonprofits.
