PAGE & PLANT: 25th Anniversary of Their MTV Unplugged Reunion

On August 25th, 1994 -- 25 years ago Sunday -- former Led Zeppelin bandmates Robert Plant and Jimmy Page reunited in a London studio to record an MTV Unplugged, which they called No Quarter: Unledded.

They had only made two appearances together since the band ended in 1980 -- for Live Aid in 1985 and for the Atlantic Records anniversary concert in 1988. Robert Plant said "When Jimmy and I discussed the whole idea of the No Quarter project, it finally was a window where it made some sense and we can come out together, the guitarist and the singer, doing something, and also, doing something that we probably would never have dreamnt of doing on our own individually, or even would have ever thought we could have done all those years ago when we were writing things like 'Four Sticks' and 'Kashmir.' The whole idea of having this vehicle where we could reintroduce ourselves to each other primarily and also live out a dream that we never thought possible."

n addition to the studio footage, they performed in Marrakesh, Morocco and Snowdonia, Wales. No Quarter: Unledded first aired on October 12th, 1994 and was released as a live album two days later.

The reunion led to a tour in 1995 and a studio album, Walking Into Clarksdale, in 1998. The two have since done a show in 2001 at the Montreux Jazz Festival and, with John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham as Led Zeppelin, for a show in London in 2007.
