The Rundown: April Fools - Boredom - NFL

Your Rundown in Frank's Garage on Z105: Wednesday April 1st, 2020.

  1. Today is April Fool's Day. Americans typically celebrate by playing practical jokes on friends and strangers alike. Although the day, also called All Fools' Day, has been celebrated for several centuries by different cultures, its exact origins remain a mystery. The first recorded April Fool's Day was in France in 1582. It's believed that April 1st was celebrated as New Year's Day before the Gregorian calendar changed it to January 1st. Those who didn't get the word about the change were called "fools," and people played tricks on them. That grew into a tradition of playing pranks or telling lies on the first day of April.
  2. Who is more bored with quarantine? The site 'fit-bug-dot-com' has been tracking all the tweets and hashtags since the first of the month. It found Texas is the state complaining the most followed by Oklahoma, Hawaii, California and Georgia.
  3. Good news from the NFL. They're still planning on starting the draft on Thursday, April 23rd, as well as planning on playing a full slate of 16 games in front of fans in stadiums. And, they're also expanding the playoff field to 14 teams starting this upcoming season. If all goes according to plan, we’ll have more NFL football this season than ever before.
