Anyone that's kept up with singer, actor, and reality TV celebrity Meatloaf, knows his 60's were not good to him. A 2018 Rolling Stone interview described debilitating trauma and back conditions he suffers from partly due to an arachnoid cyst, that's been removed from his spine. This crisis have forced him into a walker at times, and he's needed assistance managing around his Texas home for more than a decade. Several years ago he attempted to return to the stage but was thwarted by a spasm that left him collapsed and unable to sing.
It's for these reasons fans were stunned to see him onstage Tuesday night when Meat Loaf spontaneously joined the cast of the Bat Out of Hell musical on “You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)” in New York. It was his first time on stage in more than two years. You can see the effects his condition has on his ability to walk comfortably, but the crowd dismisses all that in exchange for an opportunity to enjoy a moment with what feels like an old friend.
