Tallahassee, FL - The principal of a Florida charter school has resigned after parents complained about their children being exposed to images of Michelangelo's "David."

Principal Hope Carrasquilla resigned from her position at the Tallahassee Classical School after parents complained about their children being exposed to “inappropriate adult content.”

The controversial content in question was a sculpture called “David,” which is regarded as a masterpiece of the Renaissance period and was created by the renowned artist Michelangelo in the early 1500s.

According to reports, Carrasquilla was given an ultimatum to resign or be fired after three parents complained about the artwork.

Carrasquilla ultimately chose to resign from her position on Monday.

The school’s chair, Barney Bishop, confirmed that the ultimatum was given but did not provide any further details regarding the incident.

Reports suggest that the controversy arose because the school failed to send a protocol to sixth-grade parents in advance of the lesson, informing them that similar types of artwork would be shown.
