Black Cat Announced as Starter For Dallas Cowboys

NRL Rd 18 - Panthers v Sharks

The black cat who captured the hearts and minds of football fans everywhere during Monday Night Football last week has another honor it can add to its list of accomplishments.

The Dallas Cowboys announced in a tweet Sunday night that the feline football fan who delayed the Monday Night Football game last week by running out on the field of MetLife Stadium would join the team's starting lineup against the Minnesota Vikings.

“Tonight’s #DallasCowboys starters…wait for it,” a tweet on Sunday from the team’s account read, featuring a photo of the infamous cat, complete with a blue Cowboys star photoshopped in the kitty's pupil.

However, while the black cat was a good omen for the Cowboys during last week's game against the New York Giants, the game did not go the Cowboy's way this week, as the team lost to Minnesota, 28-24.

The black cat is reportedly still roaming MetLife Stadium, located in East Rutherford, New Jersey, where officials have not yet been able to capture the elusive feline. Multiple humane traps have been set for the crafty cat, but, so far, officials have come up empty in their search for the star.

According to information obtained by the New York Post, more than 300 stray cats live in MetLife Stadium, however, that figure was disputed by Helen Strus, a marketing and communications director at MetLife Stadium, who told People in a statement that number wasn't accurate.

"There have been erroneous reports in the media that MetLife Stadium houses and feeds 300 cats which is simply not true," Strus told People in her statement. :From time to time, we have seen cats on the complex and the Meadowlands Racetrack (located at the Sports Complex) has a TNR program in place and currently feeds approximately 30 barn cats."
