Watch Freddie Mercury Sing Unreleased Version Of "Time Waits For No One"

A new version of Dave Clark and John Christie's song "Time Waits for No One" from the musical Time that was sung by Freddie Mercury has been stripped back to just piano and Mercury's jaw-dropping vocals.

Mercury's version of the song appeared on the soundtrack for the musical. The earlier version (which peaked at No. 32 in the U.K.) was heavily produced with lush instrumentation and dozens of backing vocals.

But Clark tells Rolling Stone he remembers the first time Mercury sang that song for him. This rearranged version recaptures that feeling of awe.

"It gave me goosebumps," Clark said. "I thought, 'This is magic.'"

Clark hopes the new recording helps people appreciate the late-Queen singer's incredible vocal talent.

"Freddie asked me, 'How do you want me to perform this?'" Clark remembers being asked. "I said, 'As a cross between Edith Piaf, Jennifer Holliday and Shirley Bassey.' He said, 'Well, dear. I have all the dresses. I can do it perfectly.'"

You can watch Mercury sing the song in the player above.
