Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden are hitting the road together.  They're both set to play the Pemberton Music Festival today in British Columbia before officially kicking off their co-headlining tour Saturday in Las Vegas.

It's been 20 years since the two '90s-era rock icons last shared a bill together at a gig in Toronto.  Both acts had just released monumental albums -  Nine Inch Nails' Downward Spiral and Soundgarden's Superunknown - and Trent Reznor called the concert a "professional showdown."

The joint outing was originally supposed to feature Death Grips in support.  But the experimental hip-hop duo announced its breakup without warning earlier this month, leaving Reznor to question why he ever thought those guys "could keep it together."  However, the trek now includes a trio of opening acts - Oneohtrix Point Never, the Dillinger Escape Plan, and Cold Cave.
